The holiday season is a great time to entertain friends and family. With the traffic going in and out of your home, hardwood floors maintenance is especially important this time of year. Keep your floors looking like new with StarFloors’ maintenance tips.
- Basic Care: Mop with a dusting agent or a disposable electrostatic cloth. However, hardwood floors can experience heavy wear and tear depending on the shoes that walk on them—whether it’s those sparkly stilettos you wore during your holiday party or snow boots that dragged in more snow than you were able to shovel out of the driveway.
- Deep Cleaning: Use a diluted wood-cleaning product. Dip a sponge or rag mop into the solution but wring it till it’s only slightly damp before applying it to the floor. Rinse with a clean mop dampened in clear water if your cleaning agent requires it. Be careful to prevent standing water on the floor as it can damage wood surfaces.
- Mark Removal: Heel marks and pet stains can easily be removed by using fine steel wool to rub in floor wax. If the area still remains dark, apply bleach or vinegar and let it soak into the wood for about an hour. Rinse with a damp cloth.
