Meet Our Management Team

STEVEN D. PIDGEON
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

 

Mr. Steven Pidgeon is the Chief Executive Officer of Star Companies. Over the last 35 years, he has developed an in-depth knowledge of the home furnishings industry by working as a salesperson, store manager, buyer, and Vice–President of Merchandise and Operations before becoming President. Steven developed floor covering procedures used by many companies today and has attended over 180 buying markets throughout the world. Based on his company’s outstanding sales and growth performance, he was named as one of the top 25 Home Furnishings retailers in the United States out of 17,000 Home Furnishings retailers by Professional Furniture Merchants magazine. Steven’s professional and civic affiliations include serving on the Board of Directors of both the National Home Furnishings Association, and the International Home Furnishings Association, the Board of Retailers of the Dallas Market Center, membership in the Arizona and Lone Star Chapters of Young Presidents Organization and World Presidents Organization, as well as many others. Steven is a registered Interior Designer with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners and has received the University of Texas Organizational Management Special Project Award. Steven earned marketing and management degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and also attended the University of Michigan.

MICHAEL A. PIDGEON
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Mr. Michael Pidgeon is the Chief Financial Officer of Star Companies. Additionally, Michael acts as the Vice President/Secretary of Starpower Home Entertainment, Inc and Chief Financial Officer of StarFloors, Inc. Michael has over 33 years of experience in various financial and operation positions including: Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Merchandising and Administration. Michael is currently responsible for the corporate governance of StarFloors, flooring sales and the management of Territory Managers and Account Managers, documentation and strategic planning. Michael has extensive experience in other home furnishings industries and business including family retail. Michael’s particular expertise in retail operations are used to expertly manage StarFloors and Star Interior Resources extensive team of Territory Managers and Account Managers whom are responsible for selling flooring products and complete interior renovations in major metropolitan areas nationwide. Furthermore, Michael has played an instrumental role in Starpower’s business operations. With Michael’s knowledge and skills, Star Companies has become the leading and premier interior resources provider in the nation Michael earned a marketing degree from the University of Texas at Austin and also attended Tulane University.

BOB CASTILLE
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

 

Mr. Robert Castille has over 50 years of home repairs and residential construction experience ranging in a variety of work environments. Robert spent 23 years working in foreign country’s operations, specializing in the conversion of Middle-Eastern homes to Americanized versions. Robert was a certified Construction Analyst with the U.S. Small Business Administration, Disaster Assistance and spent over 8 years working throughout the United States evaluating the destruction of homes and businesses after natural disasters including but not limited to; Hurricane Iniki, Hurricane Opal, Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, as well as numerous earthquakes and tornadoes. Furthermore, Robert spent 12+ years with Fannie Mae as the only Senior Repair Consultant for their REO division. In this position Robert was responsible for the design and implementation numerous cost-saving programs for REO properties nationwide. Robert retired from Fannie Mae at the end of 2007.  Mr. Castille’s extensive experience with Fannie Mae has provided him the opportunity to become the Director of Star Companies’ Program and Renovations Division.

MARK OLIFF
STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITIES

Mr. Mark Oliff has served for over 44 years as a Senior Executive, President or Chief Executive Officer of three of the largest commercial and home building flooring and interiors sub-contractors in the United States. Mark now provides services for Star Companies on a wide variety of topics where he utilizes his extensive knowledge and experience for virtually every flooring product installed in commercial, senior living, hospitality, production home building, and residential construction and interiors. Prior to providing services for Star Companies, Mark served as the Director of National Strategic Sales at HD Supply - Creative Touch Interiors, which was acquired from the Home Depot in 2007 by Bain Capital, The Carlyle Group and Clayton, Dublier. Mr. Oliff previously served as the President of Spectra Contract Flooring Los Angeles, a Division of Shaw Industries, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, and President of MSA Industries - Western Division, which was acquired in 1996 by The DuPont Company.

PAUL CRANE
MANAGER COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTS

Mr. Paul Crane brings over 35 years of Senior Management to Star Companies. Prior to Star Companies Paul work served as Major Accounts Manager, Northeast Area for Savin Corporation, Group Vice President for Sharp Electronics, Division President of Oce Printing Systems, and as the CEO of Denitech Corporation which sold out to Xerox.  After 38 years in the printer and copier industry Mr. Crane retired in 2007. In July 2008, Paul joined the Star Companies as the Manager of Commercial Accounts. Paul provides a variety of services for Star Companies as the Manager of Commercial Sales for Starpower and StarFloors. Paul is responsible for sales team hiring and training, field organization for custom flooring sales, and the development of business plans and process management for StarFloors and Starpower. Paul holds a Bachelors of Science in Marketing from Farleigh Dickinson University. Paul has been married for 22 years has a 16 year old son.

JIM WADKINS
MANAGER OF OPERATIONS

Mr. Jim Wadkins is Manager of Operations for Star Floors.  Jim has over 30 years of senior level experience managing business processes, people and related technology to their fullest potential. Prior to joining Star Floors, Jim managed Fannie Mae’s national construction contractor network responsible for completing repairs on Fannie Mae REO and rental properties. Jim’s other work experience includes, Senior Vice President of Operations and Process Improvement for Accubanc Mortgage, Vice President of Administration for National City Mortgage, AVP of Training and Employee Development for Lomas Mortgage, Director of Document Services at Homeward Residential and Technology Integration Manager at Comerica Bank – Texas.  Through his keen ability to identify and implement efficiencies within various operating environments, Jim has managed personnel and projects to provided millions of dollars in sustained annual savings to Fortune 500 and privately held companies. Jim is a graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington with a BBA in Management and Finance.
